If you ever wanted to take pictures in the dark but didn't know how this is the article to read. The best way to learn is by playing with your camera and testing shots. You can learn about the shutter speed and aperture setting but getting your camera to have long exposures is the way to go on this. Most cameras can have the shutter speed open for up to 30 seconds. There is another setting on the camera and that is the BULB setting. You can get someone to hold the button down for as long as you like when you are on the BULB setting or you can get some help or find some remote that can let the shutter stay open. You do not want to be touching the camera as you are taking the shot so it doesn't move the camera.
The best way to capture the background is in a still life setting where nothing is moving except for you drawing. So you need a TRIPOD!! Get one if you don't have one.
